The Fall Traditions We Look Forward to Every Year

Halloween candy charcuterie boards

There’s something about fall that makes me want to slow down, gather everyone together, and hold onto the traditions that make this season feel like ours.

No matter how old our kids get, we’re still carving pumpkins. 🎃 The designs may have gotten a little more creative over the years, but sitting around the table together, scooping out pumpkin guts and laughing at everyone’s creations is one tradition I’m not ready to give up.

We also love piling into the car for a drive to see the fall leaves. 🍁 Windows down, a good playlist, coffee in hand, and no real destination needed. Sometimes the simplest traditions become the sweetest memories.

And then there’s our Halloween candy charcuterie board. 🍬

This tradition actually started during COVID when trick-or-treating wasn’t really an option. We filled a big board with all kinds of candy—especially lots of orange treats—and made our own fun at home. We loved it so much that it stuck!

It was also the year my kids discovered their very complicated love/hate relationship with circus peanuts. 😂 Are they delicious? Are they terrible? We still aren’t completely sure.

That’s what I love about traditions. They don’t have to be elaborate or Pinterest-perfect. Sometimes they begin because plans change, you make the best of it, and somewhere along the way, a simple idea becomes something your family looks forward to every year.

Keep carving the pumpkins. Take the drive. Make the candy board. Create the moments your family will remember. 🍂🧡
